Main duties:
Overall responsibility for the planning, management  and financial control of the Programme.

This rural development project, financed jointly by the Governments of Finland and Kenya, aimed at improving the standard of living of the rural population in Western Kenya by intensifying dairy farming and improving milk marketing through cooperative societies. The programme approach was participatory, with women as a specific target group. Extension and training were the key strategies in implementation. The programme developed advanced monitoring systems, including participatory monitoring and evaluation.

Carrying out consultancy assignments for various clients.

The FCC was established in 1990 by the main Finnish apex cooperative organizations to coordinate the use of resources within the movement for the promotion of rural development in general and cooperative institutions in particular in developing countries.

The Managing Director was responsible for the overall management of the society, including marketing of services and the development of the operations of the Centre.

The main task was to provide technical backstopping, information and guidance in the field of agriculture and rural development to the ministerial staff and different country desk officers responsible for project planning, tendering, appraisal and evaluation. Also responsible for designing the sectoral strategy for rural development and agriculture for the ministry.

Specific duties included:
Formulation of FINNIDA policies in the field of rural development,
Identification, design, appraisal and monitoring of rural development projects,
Contacts with other donors and officials of recipient countries,
Contacts with Finnish and other resources operating in the fields of rural development and cooperatives as well as to high level decision makers,
Appraising proposals for humanitarian assistance,

Monitoring of cooperative activities and creation of a databank for this purpose of planning and monitoring of the progress of cooperative development.
Preparation of plans of operations, annual work plans and progress reports for the project as well as for the Ministry´s Department of Cooperative Development.
Supervision of the Nordic field staff (at maximum over 30 persons).
